SPC. WILLIAM “BILL” EVANS

Specialist William “Bill” Evans, 22, Hallstead, PA went to be with the Lord on September 19, 2005, in Ar Ramadi, Iraq as a result of injuries sustained in the Iraq Theater.

He was the son of Billie and Judy Evans, Hallstead, who survive. Also surviving are his siblings, Heather Evans, Hawley, PA, Joshua Evans, at home; his grandmothers, Eloise Moore, Great Bend, PA, Marguerite Evans, Hallstead; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Doris and Ed Evans, by Earl Thomas Moore, Jr., and by his best friend, William Jasper Burchell.

Bill attended South New Milford Baptist Church. He loved the Lord. He also loved hunting, photography and working with special needs people. He was a Specialist in the US Army National Guard and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He fought for what he believed in – God and his country and freedom for all. Bill will be deeply missed by his family and many, many friends.

A funeral will be held at South New Milford Baptist Church, located on Harford Road, Friday, September 30, 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Larry Thomas, Pastor Bruce Rosa and Chaplain Major Dale Pepper officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Susquehanna, PA.

The family will receive callers from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday evening at South New Milford Baptist Church.

The family has requested no flowers. However, should friends desire to express sympathy, they may make a donation to the Building Fund, South New Milford Baptist Church, RR 1 Box 229A, New Milford, PA 18834.

Bill’s Bible verse in Iraq with his fellow soldiers was Psalm 27:5: For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion, in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me, he shall set me up upon a rock.
