Easter Musical At Elkdale Baptist

The Elkdale Baptist Church of West Clifford will present a special Easter musical entitled, “Take Up Your Cross,” on Good Friday evening, March 25 at 7 p.m. The presentation is a historically-based, fictional drama revolving around the days of the great persecution under the Roman Caesar Nero in 67 A.D. The biblical character Rufus is imprisoned and scheduled for execution when he comes in contact with one of Nero’s servants (Claudius) whom Nero decides to have executed for some small offense. The story unfolds as Claudius discovers that Rufus was an eyewitness of the crucifixion of Christ. Claudius learns that Rufus is also the son of Simon of Cyrene – the one who was compelled to bear Jesus’ cross to Golgatha. Come and learn how Claudius discovers what it means to be a first-century Christian as Rufus uses his father’s testimony of taking up Christ’s cross.

The play was written as a joint project of Pastor Bissol and his family, and all music was written by Pastor Bissol. Audio CDs will be made available at the presentation. Claudius will be played by Joey Aikens, and Joe Bissol will play the part of Rufus.

For more information you can call (570) 222–3723. There is no charge for the performance, and refreshments will follow the presentation.
