JOSEPH F. BLATCHLEY

Joseph F. Blatchley, 79, Great Bend, PA, passed away at his home Friday, August 20, 2004. He was born November 26, 1924 in Blatchley, NY and was the son of the late Frank and Laura Blatchley. He was predeceased by a brother, Gerald Blatchley.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Anna Blatchley; a son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Rosemary Blatchley; a daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Roy Schermerhorn; six grandchildren, Jay M., Frank N. (Nick) and wife Debbie, Joseph M. Blatchley, Scott B., Troy M. and wife Nicole, Brandi Schermerhorn; several great-grandchildren, Troy, Jr., Nicholas and Michael and Madison Schermerhorn; several nieces, nephews, cousins.

Joe was a World War II veteran, serving in the US Navy as a signalman. From 1949 until 1986 he owned and operated Joe’s Disposal Service. In his retirement he loved repairing player pianos. He was a member of United Methodist Community Church, Great Bend; Musa-Stiles VFW Post 6228, Great Bend; Masonic Blue Lodge 338 F&AM, Hallstead; St. Andrew’s Commandery 27, Knights Templar, Susquehanna, PA; and the Susquehanna Royal Arch Chapter 276, Susquehanna.

A funeral service was held at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Hallstead, on Sunday, August 22, with Pastor Donald Littleton officiating. Interment, Riverside Cemetery, Kirkwood, NY.

Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to the Parkinson’s Foundation, Southern Tier Chapter, P.O. Box 72, Binghamton, NY 13903; or to Hospice, P.O. Box 210, Clarks Summit, PA 18411.

MARJORIE ISOBELLE DOHERTY

Marjorie Isobelle Doherty, 70, Harford, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2004 at the Lackawanna Hospice in CMC, Scranton. Marjorie was born in Weymouth, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Sullivan) Doherty.

She was predeceased by her twin sister, Joan Fitzgerald; a brother, Leo Doherty.

Marjorie is survived by her five children, James Doherty and Linda, Walter Linde-Zwirble and Kim, Maureen Zwirble, Bernadine Wasser and Chris, and Colleen Joan Zwirble with Michael Ficarro; one sister, Margaret Sheehy and Michael; one brother, John Doherty and Martha; nine grandchildren, Nathaniel and Amber Doherty, Theodore and Daniel Linde-Zwirble, Mae Zwirble, Keegan, Israel and Sophia Ficarro, Sarah Wasser; eight nieces and nephews, Terrence and Gregory Sheehy, Marjorie Geddry and Bernie, Jonathon Armstrong, Tania Manuel and Al, Veronica Paricio and Jorge, Leo Schlittler, Kathryn Fitzgerald; one aunt, Dolores Fisher and Ed; several cousins; her dog, Trubby.

Marjorie was a loving and devoted Nana and indeed loved all small children and babies very much. She spent her leisure hours making quilts that she then donated to the pediatric AIDS foundations near her different homes through the years. She also donated many quilts to the local hospitals and trauma centers for distribution to the babies and children.
