Bishop's Tape At St. Paul's Church

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of Montrose announces three sets of classes about studying the bible as viewed by Bishop Paul Marshall, Bishop of the Diocese of Bethlehem(PA). The videos are open to the public at no charge and coffee will be provided. Classes will run on Sunday and Wednesday evenings in the Parish Hall and will be repeated two times to aid in reaching the most people. (You’d be surprised how much you learn at a second viewing! ) Feel free to bring a bag lunch/dinner on Wednesday. Reservations are not needed. Bring a friend.

During October, November and December of 2003, at various locations in the 14 eastern and northeastern Pennsylvania counties of the Episcopal Diocese of Bethlehem, Bishop Paul Marshall gave ten presentations on reading the Bible and thinking biblically and theologically about human sexuality. Edited only to insert titles, the video was shot in one take during the first of those presentations.

How do we read the Bible today? Sessions 1 & 2 – Sunday, June 6, at 7:00 p.m. I come to the scriptures as one who has a relationship with Jesus Christ and a hunger to know God. (24 min.). Getting it and not getting it. (10 min.).

Sessions 3 & 4 – Wednesday, June 9, at 6:00 p.m. Development: The struggle to perceive the ever-widening circle of God’s love. (21 min.) Homosexuality, the Bible and the General Convention (28 min.).

Repeat sessions, in case you were unable to attend the first set or wanted to view it again. Sessions 1 & 2 – Sunday, June 13, at 7:00 p.m. Sessions 3 & 4 – Wednesday, June 16, at 6:00 p.m. Sessions 1 & 2 – Sunday, June 20, at 7:00 p.m. Sessions 3 & 4 – Wednesday, June 23, at 6:00 p.m.
