Letters to the Editor Policy

Urging Your Support

To our Senators, I am extremely disappointed with the version of HB 2149, section 2, section 501 b 2.1 as re-amended March 31.

The original version, as amended March 17 read as follows: "A municipality shall not select any agency to be the sole provider of inspections but shall maintain a list of all third-party agencies qualified to perform plan reviews and inspections as prescribed by this act."

The newest version, as of March 31, which is being referred to the Senate, appears to turn the very fair and transparent language of March 17 upside down.

I urge your support of the March 17 version of HB 2149, section 501 B 2.1.

Monopolies and bribery are not a good idea. The people need freedom of choice among private, competing building inspection insurance agencies.

Sincerely,
David A. Kerr, Jr.
Friendsville, PA
