EMHR Membership Drive Underway

TOWANDA - Endless Mountains Heritage Region Inc. (EMHR) is accepting membership renewals and new members for 2004. EMHR is a State Heritage Park, strongly invested in regional community goals and maintaining a high quality of life in the counties it serves: Bradford, Sullivan, Wyoming and Susquehanna.

Memberships are available to individuals, small businesses, professional groups, non-profit groups, corporations and municipalities.

Historical Societies in all four counties strongly support EMHR and were among the first to join during the initial membership campaign three years ago. Funds raised through memberships allow EMHR to promote and support a variety of activities focused on effective development and preservation of natural and cultural resources throughout the Endless Mountains. A strong regional membership base is necessary for the organization to continue to grow, prosper, and expand services.

EMHR is a 501c3 non-profit organization and welcomes donations. For more information contact Endless Mountains Heritage Region, 10 Park Street, Towanda, 18848; (570) 265-1528.

PACT Holidays

The Family Community Center held a "Thanksgiving" PACT on November 21, where children and their parents learned the importance of honesty. Each child and their parents listened to stories and made crafts, such as the "thankful wreath." The December 16 PACT, "Santa and a Sundae" brought out 56 children and adults. The children played a game with Christmas stockings and candy. A Christmas story was read while waiting for Santa’s arrival. Each child had the opportunity to tell Santa their Christmas wishes and received a bag of goodies and a candy cane reindeer. Everyone enjoyed the variety of sundaes that were served. January’s PACT, "Make a Memory," will be held on Wednesday, January 21 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the New Milford Family Community Center. All are welcome to come. For more details or to sign your family up, please call 465–2880 or 278–9027.

Skiers Welcome

The Sensational Skiers will start the new season on Wednesday, January 7. Over 20 years ago the Sensational Skiers began as a 4-H Club. When 4-H could no longer sponsor, the leaders decided to keep the club going as a community club. They had many, many families taking advantage of the opportunity to ski together mid week at group rates. They now only have a few skiers and would like to have more join. They meet every Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the main lodge. Call Susan at 679-2386 or Nancy at 679-2273 for more information.
