More, Longer Lasting Outages

I am a family member of an employee of Penelec (a First Energy Company). I, along with many others experienced the discomfort of an energy outage this past Thursday.

I would like to share some of the concerns I have for utility workers with this company, so that the public can be aware of the frustrations experienced by these workers.

Penelec is a company under the ownership of First Energy and with its "guidance," our community has lost coverage by a local crew of dedicated workers. Utility workers are now assigned to Montrose or to a remote area and this community, I believe, will experience more, longer lasting outages during storms.

The utility workers are now assigned to work as a one-man crew during call-outs, which appears to place workers in a significantly more dangerous situation; in remote areas, communication with the company is impossible for a worker. The personal appreciation that was given to the employees by the company when Penelec was truly Penelec and the caring for communities such as Susquehanna and neighboring communities, is gone.

Could this be a legacy of deregulation of this industry, or corporate greed? It is up to you to decide, but please realize that the utility worker continues to do his/her best under difficult working conditions.

Sincerely,

A Concerned Family Member

Congratulations To Jr. Sabers "B" Team

On Sunday, November 16, the Susquehanna Junior Sabers "B" Team made a lot of people very proud of them by capturing the NAJFL League Championship, beating the Carbondale Blitz, 12-7. Truly a team effort, it was the perfect ending to an awesome season. I look forward to seeing this team win many championships in the future. Congratulations boys, YOU made it happen!

Sincerely,

John McKinney
