DOLORES JOHNSTON

Dolores Johnston, 81, Spring Hill, Florida, died Sunday, November 10, 2002 at Oak Hill Hospital. Born in Susquehanna, PA, she moved to the Spring Hill area 20 years ago from Vestal, NY. She graduated from Laurel Hill Academy in Susquehanna and was a retired secretary for IBM Computers. She was a member of Aripeka Elks and St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death one month ago by her husband of 34 years, Reamer. Survivors include one sister, Rosemary McNamara Berger, Spring Hill; two brothers, Thomas McNamara, Binghamton, NY, Robert, Sr. and his wife, Mary McNamara, Susquehanna; several nieces and nephews; two stepsons, James Johnston, Roseberg, OR, Timothy Johnston, Vestal, NY; two stepdaughters, Elizabeth Cronin, Alford, NY, Susan Hern, Colorado Springs, CO; nine step grandchildren.

Arrangements were made by Turner Funeral Homes, Spring Hill Chapel.

MARGARET JENKINS

Margaret C. "Connie" Jenkins, 68, Susquehanna, PA, passed away Friday, November 15, 2002, at Barnes-Kasson Hospital, Susquehanna, after an illness.

She was born in Kearny, NJ, the daughter of the late James F. and Catherine (Rodgers) Dolan.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Jenkins, on February 10, 1987.

She is survived by her son, William and daughter, Linda, both of New Jersey; two sisters, Kathleen Lyons, New Jersey, Geraldine Reck, South Carolina; one brother, James Dolan, Jr., New Jersey.

Margaret was born and raised in New Jersey, moving to Pennsylvania after her retirement in 1986.

The funeral service was held Sunday, November 17, at Hennessey’s Funeral Home, Susquehanna, with the Rev. Kenneth Bitler officiating.

Burial, Lanesboro Cemetery, Lanesboro, PA.

ROBERT WILLIAMS

Robert Williams, 83, Starrucca, PA, passed away Friday, November 15, 2002, at Barnes-Kasson Hospital SNF, Susquehanna, after an illness.

He was born in Starlight, PA, the son of the late William J. and Verla (Dix) Williams.

He was predeceased by one brother, Harland Williams; one sister, Jean Allen.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley A. (Tarbox) Williams; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Gale Williams, Starrucca; three daughters and a son-in-law, Gail Cook, Susquehanna, Gay and Robert Keyes, Susquehanna, Gwen Williams, Starrucca; three sisters, Thelma Carpenter, Lois Sanford, Ella Hempstead; a brother-in-law, Wendell Swartz; 11 grandchildren, Scott Williams, Stephen Williams, Greg Williams, Kristin Potter, Michele Cook, Amy Kuiper, Jeffrey Keyes, Brent Keyes, Mariah Stewart, Jedediah Stewart, Jared Stewart; nine great-grandchildren, Michael Williams, Nathan Williams, Shannon Williams, Daniell Williams, Cynthia Williams, Rhiannon Potter, Mark Pichler, Austin Kuiper, Abigail Kuiper.

Robert was a member of the Starrucca Baptist Church, Starrucca. He was a former Boy Scout Leader, Troop 106, Starrucca; School Board Member of Susquehanna Community School District; Life Member of Thompson Hose Company and Susquehanna Fire Police. He was an avid cycle rider and a member of the Pleasure Riders Motorcycle Club of Honesdale, PA.

Funeral services were held on November 19, at the Starrucca Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Grove officiating. Burial, Starrucca Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Thompson Hose Company, Thompson, PA 18465; or Starrucca Baptist Church, Starrucca, PA 18462.

MINNIE BROOKER

Minnie Brooker, 95, Starrucca, PA, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2002, at Willow Point Nursing Home, Vestal, NY, after a long illness.

She was born in Starrucca, the daughter of the late John and Lola (Niles) Stearns.

She was predeceased by her husband, Allen Brooker; all her brothers and sisters; two sons, Gary and Clair Brooker; daughter-in-law, Bessie Brooker; two sons-in-law, Serge Figura, Arthur Fancher; two grandsons, Randy Brooker, Adrian Baldwin.

She is survived by two daughters, Miriam Fancher, Vestal, Ann Figura, Thompson, PA; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Marsha Brooker, Boca Raton, Florida; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Starrucca United Methodist Church, a member of the United Methodist Women’s Society, and held the office of treasurer for the Society for many years. She was a member of the Wayne County Democrat Party for many years. Also was a member for years in the Thompson Grange.

She retired from her farm a few years after her husband died and worked in Binghamton for awhile before totally retiring in Starrucca.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 11:00 a.m. at the Starrucca United Methodist Church, Starrucca, PA, with Rev. Brian Lucas officiating.

Burial will be in the Starrucca Cemetery, Starrucca, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Starrucca United Methodist Church, Starrucca, PA 18462.
