PAUL S. CORSE, JR.

Paul S. Corse, Jr., 33, Susquehanna, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2002, after an automobile accident.

He is survived by his high school love and loving wife of ten years, Teresa (Pooler) Corse, Jr.; two children, Mandalyn and Mitchell; loving parents, Paul and Catherine Corse; one brother, Jim and companion Marge Lane; one sister and brother-in-law, Traci and Ray Ayres; father-in-law, Charles Pooler and companion Lila Hayes; mother-in-law and stepfather-in-law, Judy and Stephen Whittaker; sisters-in-law, Tina and Tara Pooler; nieces, Chelsea Ayres, Elizabeth Rodenbacker; nephews, Timothy Rodenbacker, Christopher Ayres, Adam and Luke Albert; grandparents, Charles and Freida Smith; aunts, Sharon and Joel Hokrein, Jane and Tim Madigan, Mary and John Parks, Sandra and Bob Bright; uncle, Sinon and Lauretta Smith; cousins, Mike Madigan, Jennifer and Les Courchaine, Timothy and Carol Hokrein, Thad and Nora Hokrein, Ian and Donna Maffett, Wesley Parks, Freida and Sinon Smith; several great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.

Paul was a graduate of Susquehanna Community High School, Class of 1988, and Penn State College of Technology, Class of 1990.

He was an extremely dedicated employee of Herb Kilmer and Sons Stone Company for eight years, where he thoroughly enjoyed his profession. Paul was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed golfing, gardening, darts and horseshoes. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services were held from Hennessey’s Funeral Home, Susquehanna, with Rev. Donald Littleton officiating. Interment, Lakeview Cemetery.

FRANCIS D. SWARTZ

Francis D. Swartz, 77, Starrucca, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2002, at Barnes-Kasson Hospital, Susquehanna, after an illness.

He was born in Starrucca, the son of the late William and Augusta (Penn) Swartz.

He was predeceased by one son, Donald Swartz, January 30, 1978; one sister-in-law, Marguerita Swartz; one brother-in-law, Charles Downton.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Marie (Downton) Swartz; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Clifford Swartz, Matthew Swartz, Tom and Tracey Swartz; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Marty Ostrander, Anne and Mark Strohl, Sue and Rich Cottrell; nine grandchildren, Greg, Brenda, Karrie, Chip, Donnie, Karlene, James, Marty, Kimberly; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Wendell Swartz, Kenneth and Peggy Swartz, Ronald and Shirley Swartz; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Joy and Raymond Mead, June Downton, Dennis and Flo Downton; many nieces and nephews.

Francis was baptized in the Methodist Faith and was a member of the United Methodist Church, Starrucca. He owned and operated a dairy farm in Starrucca, and was employed by PENNDOT for 30 years. He was a member of the Thompson Hose Company, Susquehanna County Fire Police, Gibson Grange #798, and Susquehanna County Pomona Grange. Francis was past secretary for the Starrucca Borough Council and the Starrucca Cemetery Association and was Starrucca Borough Tax Collector. After his retirement he enjoyed delivering meals to shut-ins and always enjoyed a good ball game. Francis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Funeral services were held from the Starrucca United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Grove officiating. Interment, Starrucca Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Thompson Hose Company or the Starrucca Cemetery Association.

Arrangements were made by Hennessey’s Funeral Home, Susquehanna.

ROBERT E. DODGE

Robert E. Dodge, 74, Windsor, NY, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2002, at his home. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Arlene M. Dodge; three children, Robert, Debbie, David; three stepchildren, Shirley, Frank, Marie; four sisters, Rev. Beatrice Dodge, Marion Dodge, Anna Mae Dodge, Ina Dodge; many grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews.

He was a retired lineman with the I.B.E.W. Local 1249, a World War II US Navy veteran, a member of the American Legion, Post 86, Susquehanna, and the Canawacta Rod and Gun club. Robert was an avid golfer and enjoyed reconditioning fishing poles and lures.

Funeral services were held from the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, Windsor. Burial, North Jackson Cemetery.
