Obituaries

DONALD A. BROWNELL

Donald A. Brownell, 80, of Port Orange, FL passed away May 14, 2009 at his home.

Born June 12, 1928 in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late Clarence and Jeanette Brownell of Starrucca, PA. He was a veteran of WWII and Korean War in the 1st & 2nd Division US Marine Corp. He worked 42 years in the Dairy Business in PA, NY and NJ for Sealtest, Alderney Puritan, Crowley’s and retired from the State of Florida Dairy Division. From his early days, growing up at Coxton Lake in Thompson, PA, where he called “home,” Don became a water lover and avid boater. He was awarded the 50 year Masonic Service Emblem in 2005.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Carol; 3 daughters and 1 son, Christine Thorn, Deborah Farmer, Donald Brownell, Jr., Nancy Figura and their spouses; 1 sister, Patricia Dudley; 2 brothers, Ronald and David Brownell, and their spouses; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A committal service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the North Jackson Cemetery, Hwy. 92, with Rev. Leon Frank officiating. After the service, the Thompson United Methodist Church will be providing a light meal.
