150th Anniversary Held

150th Anniversary Held

On October 20, 21 and 22 Susquehanna First Baptist Church celebrated 150 years of God's faithfulness. Services were held on Friday evening with Dr. Donald Hall speaking. Dr. Hall attended First Baptist Church while growing up. On Saturday a banquet was held at the Starrucca House, where a delicious buffet dinner was served to all present. Rev. James Major spoke following the banquet. On Sunday morning there was a worship service held at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Fred Johnson bringing the message, followed by a luncheon. At 2:00 p.m. bringing the afternoon message was Mike Fritz, Youth Pastor. The services were very uplifting and inspiring and included the introduction of guests and former members, special music and great fellowship. Some of the guests attending came from New York State: Hancock, Roscoe, Windsor, Sidney, Farmington, Endwell and Kirkwood. Some came from the State of Florida: Sebring and Naples. Others came from Xenia, Ohio; Griffin, Georgia; Longview, Texas; Campbell, California; Las Vegas, Nevada; Brookfield, Connecticut. From the state of Pennsylvania guests came from Springville, Meshoppen, Clarks Summit, Moscow, Taylor, Dalton, Reading, Scranton, Clarks Green, Hallstead, Montrose, and Susquehanna. Also attending was Penny Warner, missionary to Senegal, West Africa.

Oldest living member of the church is Mrs. Thelma Stanford of Colorado; she was unable to attend. The oldest former member attending was Carl Wheeler, age 94 and his wife, Jeanette, age 92.

The celebration was a wonderful time of praise and rededication to serving the Lord.
