FRANCIS J. BOTTS

Memorial Service

A memorial service will be held for Francis J. Botts, Garretson, South Dakota, who died September 8, 2005, at the Deposit Community Church in Hale Eddy, NY on June 10, 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Keith Albee officiating.

DAVID A. BARTON

David A. Barton, 78, Foxton Lake, PA, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2006 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA after an illness.

David was born in East Dedham, MA, the son of the late Howard and Bertha (Miles) Barton.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Emilie G. (Zdansky) Barton; two brothers, Joe Barton and Miles Barton; his sister, Daisy Buchanan.

David is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Jean M. (Saam, Corse) Barton; mother-in-law, Marie L. (Braungard) Saam; two stepsons, Raymond H. Corse, Alan J. and Alice Corse; two stepdaughters, Carol and Ray Rockwell, Marion and Bruce Seamans; two brothers, Lyle Barton, Ed Barton; nine grandchildren, David M. and Amber Rockwell, Tara and Dale Rhone, Brenda and Scott Halesky, Marie Corse, Meagan Corse, Bailey Corse, Bradley Seamans, Rebecca Seamans, Judith Corse; friend, Ted Schleuter; six great-grandchildren; several  nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dave had his own contracting business and built several “What-A-Burger” from Texas to Florida, constructed several homes and remodeled many buildings, including several cottages at Foxton Lake.

He was a member of the St. Marin of Tours Church, Jackson, PA; American Legion Post 86 of Susquehanna; Treasurer of the Foxton Lake Association; and a veteran of the United States Navy.

Dave enjoyed RV’ing and spending the winters with his wife and mother-in-law in Texas and the rest of the time at Foxton Lake. Dave made many friends while on his journey through life. All who came in contact with Dave met a wonderful person and will always remember him. He loved his family and friends, square dancing, gensinging and crossword puzzles.

The funeral service was held on Thursday, June 1 at Hennessey’s Funeral Home, Susquehanna, and at St. Martin of Tours, where a Mass of Christian Burial was offered by Rev. John O’Bell.

WANDA STEPHENS

Wanda W. Stephens, 86, Geneseo, NY, formerly of Perry, NY and Starrucca, PA, died Saturday, May 13, 2006 at Wyoming County Community Hospital, Warsaw, NY. Her husband, Edward L. Stephens, died on June 22, 1997.

Born March 22, 1920, in Starrucca, she was the daughter of the late Lewis E. Wall and Omoo Slocum Wall. She worked in New Jersey and then in the business office at Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw as a senior clerk for 12 years until retiring in 1982.

She was a member of the Geneseo United Methodist Church and a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Perry.

She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie S. Bain and her husband, James F., of Augusta, NJ; a son, Gregory A. Stephens of Fishers, Indiana; a sister, Dee Stephens, Starrucca; a brother, Bud L. Wall, Buffalo, NY; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Seiber, Binghamton, NY; two grandchildren, Michael J. Bain, Augusta, NJ, Nicholas E. Stephens, Fishers, IN; several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Wall, and a sister, Esther Gajdorus.

Funeral services were held at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, Perry, NY. Burial, Stockport Cemetery, Equinunk.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Geneseo United Methodist Church; the First United Methodist Church in Perry; or a charity of the donor’s choice.

HAROLD F. WESTBROOK, JR.

Harold F. Westbrook, Jr., 66, Susquehanna, PA, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA.

He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Margaret Westbrook, and by his brother, Tim Westbrook.

Harold is survived by his wife of 47 years, Vivian (Peanuts) Westbrook; two sons, Harold Westbrook and Tracie Osterhout, Susquehanna, Jeffery and Colleen Westbrook, East Hampton, CT; one daughter, Cindy Ann Westbrook, Susquehanna; five grandchildren, Ashley and Cody Westbrook, Susquehanna, Kristen, Dominique and Gabrielle Cina, Susquehanna; three brothers, Joseph Westbrook, Oakland, PA, Gerald (Butch) and Janice Westbrook, Meshoppen, PA, Ronny and Alice Westbrook, Williamston, SC; one sister, Mary Merril, Pina, Arizona; several nieces and nephews.

Harold was a correctional officer for the Susquehanna County Jail for over 18 years. He was a veteran, serving in the PA National Guard.

The funeral service was held on Monday, June 5 at Hennessey’s Funeral Home, Susquehanna.

Burial, Evergreen Cemetery, Susquehanna.
