HELEN L. WALLACE

Helen L. Wallace, 81, of Heart Lake, PA, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2005, at Barnes Kasson Hospital, Susquehanna, PA after a brief illness. She was born in New Milford, Twp., PA, to the late George H. and Marion E. (Lewis) Welch.

Helen was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in New Milford, PA and the VFW Ayres-Stone Post 5642 Ladies Auxiliary. She retired from the Bendix Corp., in South Montrose, PA. Helen kept in touch with family and friends through E-mail and enjoyed playing computer games, playing cards and Bingo. Helen was a loving mother and grandmother.

Surviving are her five children and their spouses, Ronald and Noreen Wallace, Harford, PA, Diane Murphy, Montclair, VA, Gary and Susan Wallace, Springville, PA, Wayne Wallace, Syracuse, NY, Tammy Brant and finance’, Larry Fraser, Montrose, PA; one sister and brother-in-law, Joann and Bill Morris, Vass, NC; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Helen was predeceased by her husband, James E. Wallace in April of 2005, and by one brother, Ted Welch.

A private Memorial Mass will be held at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Great Bend, PA with the Rev. Joseph S. Sitko officiating. A private interment will be held in the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Great Bend.

Donations in Helen’s memory can be made to St. John’s Catholic Church, Franklin St., Great Bend, PA 18821.

SYLVESTER C. CONNORS

Sylvester “Chuck” Connors, 76, New Milford, PA passed away December 12, 2005 in Susquehanna, PA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice in 1997.

Sylvester is survived by a son, Frank Connors and his girlfriend, Tammy Brown and her daughters, Casey and Carrie, Susquehanna; a daughter, Vonecile (Missie) Phelps and boyfriend, Douglas DeBoer, New Milford; a sister, Elizabeth Miller, Jupiter, FL; three grandchildren, Earl Phelps, Jr., Ronald Phelps, Joseph Phillips; three great-grandchildren, Cameron, Seadie, and Nathan Phelps; several nieces and nephews.

Sylvester was a truck driver and painted during his retirement years. He enjoyed life.

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

HOWARD K. THORN

Howard K. Thorn, 78, Thompson, PA passed away at his home on Sunday, December 18, 2005.
He was born in Ararat, PA, the son of the late William and Florence (Avery) Thorn.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Harry and George Thorn and by a sister, Joan Drumm.
Howard is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Dorothy (Lee) Thorn; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Ann Thorn, Susquehanna, Kenneth and Laurie Thorn, Harford, PA; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Paula Ralston and companion, Joe Hawkins, Nicholson, PA, Dolores and Warren Stone, Thompson, PA, Cathy and James Megivern, Thompson, PA; one brother and sister-in-law, Emory and Andi Thorn, Laceyville, PA; three sisters, Roslyn Lee, Thompson, Joyce Thorn, Ararat, Emily Hargers, Florida; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Howard was a retired truck driver who delivered bulk milk. He was a member of the Ararat United Methodist Church, Ararat; a lifetime member of the Thompson Hose Company; and past Mayor of Thompson Borough, where he served for 20 years.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 21 at 11:00 a.m. at Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 208 Jackson Ave., Susquehanna, with Rev. Barbara Pease officiating.
Burial will be in the Ararat Cemetery, Ararat.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ararat United Methodist Church, Ararat, PA; or Thompson Hose Company, Thompson, PA.
