ROBERT C. DEVRIES, JR.

Robert C. DeVries, Jr., 42, Fort Myers, FL, formerly of North Jackson, PA, passed away suddenly on Friday, October 9, 2005, at home.

He is survived by his parents, Robert and Rose DeVries, Sr., North Jackson; a daughter, Kristen DeVries, Honesdale, PA; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Chris and Rose DeVries, Oakland, PA, Michael and Rose Marie DeVries, Waymart, PA; two sisters, JoAnn VanTassell, Carbondale, PA, Susan Gunzel, Carbondale; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Robert graduated from Blue Ridge High School in 1981 and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a supervisor for the Heritage Trucking Co. in Fort Myers, Florida.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, October 29, 11 a.m. at St. Martin of Tours Church, Jackson, with Rev. John O’Bell officiating.

Burial will be in the North Jackson Cemetery, North Jackson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Barnes-Kasson Hospital, 400 Turnpike St., Susquehanna, PA 18847.

JOHN T. BAILEYS

John T. " Jack" Baileys, 83. of Browndale , died Friday, October 21, 2005 in the Mercy Hospital, Scranton. His wife is the former Jennie Blodnikar; the couple were married for 62 years.

Born August 16, 1922 in Forest City, he was the son of the late Stanley and Anna Hadley Baileys. He was an U.S. Army Single Corp veteran of World War II, having served as a corporal. He was a recipient of a Bronze Star. He was a member of the American Legion Post 524, the American Slovenian Heritage Club, and Christ Episcopal Church , all of Forest City.

Prior to his retirement in 1982 he was employed as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Forest City .

He was an outstanding athlete while at Forest City High School and for many years thereafter. In 1998 he was inducted in to the Wayne County Area Sports Hall of Fame. Jack was an avid gardener, fisherman, and enjoyed his trips to Atlantic City.

Also surviving are one son, John F. Baileys and his wife, Carol , Allentown; one daughter, Carol A. Lutchko and her husband, Michael, Hallstead; six grandchildren, Rebecca Baileys, Alycia Buck, Adam Conroy, Clifford, Ryan, and Cherie Langi, and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Glavich and Catherine Nichols.

The funeral was held from the Jones and Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main St. Forest City, and from in Christ Episcopal Church , with the Rev. Elizabeth Myers officiating. Interment, Saint Joseph’s Cemetery , Forest City.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 1131, Fairfax, VA. 22038-1131.

JESSIE A. LEWIS

Jessie A. Lewis, 89, formerly of New Milford, PA, passed away Friday, October 21, 2005 in Montrose, PA. She was the wife of C. Miller Lewis, who predeceased her in 1986.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Tina Lewis, New Milford; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jack Rood, Hallstead, PA; four grandchildren, Matthew Lewis, Leslie Donovan, Chris Smith, Lindsay Lewis; three great-grandchildren, Cole Donovan, Kyle Donovan, Levi Smith; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Fred William “Bill” Aldrich, Camilla Maloney, Jane VanZandt.

Jessie was a member of First United Methodist Church, New Milford. She was retired from her position as a Postal Clerk for the New Milford Post Office.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 25, at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Hallstead. Interment, Harford Cemetery, Harford, PA.
