SANFORD “MIKE” RYDER

Sanford “Mike” Ryder, 82, of Susquehanna, PA, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City, NY, after an illness.

He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Theresa Marie Ryder in 1977; and a brother, Earl Ryder, in 1943.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Marie Ryder; two sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Marie Ryder, Carbondale, PA, Michael and Mary Jane Ryder, Oakland, PA; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathleen and Ernest Nichols, Mansfield, GA, Sandra Ryder, New Milford, PA, Patricia and Ron Harting, Windsor, NY; one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Linda Ryder, New Milford, PA; two sisters, Martha Goodfellow, Windsor, NY, Tharon White, Florida; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was an auto and motorcycle mechanic, who did work throughout the Binghamton area. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A memorial service is pending due to the illness of his wife, Mary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susquehanna Fire Department, P.O. Box 175, Susquehanna, PA 18847 in Mike’s memory.

EVELYN E. POTTER

Evelyn E. Potter, 86, Thompson, PA, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at Barnes-Kasson Hospital, Susquehanna, after an illness.

She was born in Thompson Township, the daughter of the late Harry and Ruth Potter.

She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Potter.

Evelyn is survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law, David Potter, Thompson, Gerald and Patricia Potter, Susquehanna; one sister, Joyce Cline, Vestal, NY; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She attended the Starrucca Baptist Church, Starrucca, PA. Evelyn worked on the family farm all her life. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

The funeral service was held on January 3 at Hennessey’s Funeral Home, Susquehanna, with Pastor Albert Rodriguez officiating. Burial, Thompson Cemetery, Thompson, PA.

Memorial contributions may be made in Evelyn’s name to the Barnes-Kasson Hospital SNF, 400 Turnpike Street, Susquehanna, PA 18847.

HANNA A. MacCONNELL

Hanna A. MacConnell, 87, New Milford, PA, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2005 at her home. Stanley MacConnell, her beloved husband of 69 years, survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Elwin and Joan MacConnell, Donald and Kathy MacConnell, Robert and Jean MacConnell, Joseph MacConnell and Roberta Houlihan; three grandchildren, David, Kenneth and Keith MacConnell; several step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Eileen Estes; and by two brothers, Elwood Fallon, William Fallon.

Hanna was a member of the United Methodist Church, New Milford, and the Columbia Hose Company Auxiliary, New Milford. The center of her life was her faith, her family and her church activities.

A funeral service was held at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Hallstead, on Monday, January 3 with the Reverend Joyce Allen officiating. Interment, New Milford Cemetery, New Milford.

Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to the United Methodist Church or the Columbia Hose Company, both in New Milford, PA.
