RONALD E. FOSTER

Ronald E. Foster, Union Dale, PA died Saturday, April 17, 2004 at home after an illness. He was the husband of the former Roberta Becker, who died in 1997. They were married for 50 years.

Born in Union Dale, he was the son of the late Merritt and Gladys Cole Foster. He was a member of the Union Dale United Methodist Church; a member and Past Master of the Mount Herman Lodge #472 of the Masons, Union Dale; a founding member and past chief of the Union Dale Fire Company. He served as the secretary for Union Dale Borough. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II, having served as a crew chief in England. Prior to his retirement, he was a skilled carpenter and an owner of his own excavating company.

Surviving are five daughters, Gay Meyers, Nuangola, Sharon Lubaszewski, Union Dale, Bonnie Ahles, Ringwood, Australia, Kelly Coale, Telford, Teri Shager, Union Dale; two sons, James, Plains, MT, Dale, Vandling; one sister, Marie Cross, Union Dale; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Philip.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, April 21, 11:00 a.m. in the Union Dale Presbyterian Church, with combined services by lay pastor Donald Perry and lay pastor Edward Giles of the Union Dale United Methodist Church. Interment, Union Dale Cemetery.

Friends may call Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. to service time at the Union Dale Presbyterian Church. Masonic services will be held Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 730 Pittston Avenue, Scranton, PA 18506; or the Union Dale Fire Company, c/o Chief Thomas Yale, RR 2, Union Dale, PA 18470.

Arrangements were made by the Joseph & Brennan Funeral Home, Forest City.

Richard Henry tumSuden

Richard Henry tumSuden, 96, Susquehanna, passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 14, 2004.

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Frieda tumSuden on December 3, 1994.

He is survived by one son, Richard Otto tumSuden, Mt. Airy, Maryland; one grandson, Oliver tumSuden, Mt. Airy, Maryland; his companion, Margaret Easton; and the nurses’ aides who took such good care of him, Bobbi Jo Nusbaum, Michelle Shepard, Pat Bentler.

Richard was a loving, caring father, grandfather and companion who will be greatly missed. He was a member of the North Jackson United Methodist Church, North Jackson, PA.

The funeral service was held on Sunday, April 18, at the North Jackson United Methodist Church, North Jackson, with the Rev. Kenneth Bitler officiating.

Burial, North Jackson Cemetery, North Jackson.

Arrangements were made by Hennessey’s Funeral Home, Susquehanna.
