Fmn. Joseph Travis On Deployment

Navy Fireman Joseph S. Travis, Jr., son of Bonne C. and Joseph S. Travis of New Milford, PA, recently had a chance to see all-star entertainment courtesy of the United Service Organization (USO), while on a six-month deployment to the Western Pacific and Arabian Gulf while assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, home ported in San Diego, Calif.

Joseph is one of more than 6,000 Pacific Fleet Sailors and Marines aboard the ships of the USS Nimitz Carrier Battle Group who enjoyed Project Salute 2003, the first USO tour to the region since the conclusion of major hostilities in Iraq. He had the opportunity to see Las Vegas entertainer Wayne Newton, the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, actress Alyssa Milano, NBA stars and many other famous entertainers.

Joseph is a 2001 graduate of Blue Ridge High School and joined the Navy in July, 2001.
